Early pregnancy: when should you call your doctor?

Early pregnancy brings many new sensations. Most are normal, but a few symptoms are worth reaching out about so you feel supported and reassured.

Early pregnancy care guidance

What is usually normal

  • Mild nausea or food aversions.
  • Tiredness and light dizziness.
  • Breast tenderness.
  • Mild lower-belly pulling or cramping.

When to contact your doctor

  • Heavy bleeding or passing clots.
  • Severe or one-sided abdominal pain.
  • Fainting or persistent dizziness.
  • High fever or burning while urinating.
  • Severe vomiting where you cannot keep fluids down.

Routine check-ins matter

Regular pregnancy visits help track your health and your baby's growth, and give you space to ask questions as they come up.

You are not being a bother

If something feels off or you are unsure, it is always okay to reach out. It is far better to ask than to worry alone.
